Things we need to face in the pandemic-era workforce?

There is no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work. And as organizations are recalibrating their workplace models, cybersecurity must keep pace. The good news is that many companies have already made great strides in securing their remote workforce. But as workers return to the office, advanced security challenges arise. One of the biggest challenges is the increased use of personal devices for work purposes. According to a recent survey, nearly 60% of employees are using their own devices for work, up from just over 50% pre-pandemic.

The pandemic has forced organizations to reevaluate their cybersecurity posture and reconsider their approach to work. This has meant a shift to remote work and a hybrid workforce model. As we enter the next phase of the pandemic, it's crucial to consider what is next for security in this new era. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. The pandemic has changed how we work, and security must adapt accordingly.
  2. A hybrid workforce model presents new challenges for security.
  3. Culture is the blueprint for success in a hybrid workforce.
  4. Security must be flexible to meet the needs of a hybrid workforce.

If there is a lesson for cyber executives emerging from the pandemic, it’s to be fluid with security. Recent history has proven that threat actors will get past an initial line of defense — if not on the first try, but on the second, third, or tenth. They will find the organization's weakest link and exploit it. What is more, as the pandemic has shown us, the workforce can change rapidly and dramatically. Employees may be working remotely, furloughed, or laid off.
